VINEYARD AND WINEMAKING NOTES
Merlot 44%, Cabernet Sauvignon 35%, Cabernet Franc 21%
Small batch wild fermented parcels from the Gimblett gravels and Esk valley were combined to produce this elegant Bordeaux blend. Aged in French oak, this wine promises complexity and good aging potential, a very approachable wine.
A challenging year for most with a series of bad weather events affecting most of the bay however the Esk valley turned it on for us ripening our fruit ahead of schedule as it does consistently. The ripeness of the fruit is evident by the rich complex wines produced in 2017
Eye: Fluorescent red, deep yet vibrant, crimson hues developing
Nose: Cherries, plums and spice laced with hints of chocolate leap out of the glass.
Taste: Plums and cherries on the initial taste followed by black currants, boysenberries, and hints of liquorice and confectionery. Soft tannins accompany the fruit weight providing balance and structure.
